Manufacturing Manager

Our Timber Systems division is the leading provider of Timber Frame construction solution to the Private, Social / Affordable and Commercial / public works sectors. We operate throughout the United Kingdom and have two manufacturing plants, Witney Oxfordshire and Aberdeen Scotland, with regional offices in Glasgow and Manchester.

Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, you will be a key member of the Manufacturing management Team responsible for the daily optimisation of the production facility. You will have the opportunity to use your people and general management skills to provide clear site direction to the main manufacturing operations.  This role would offer further opportunity for personal development in line with the company’s commitment to development of its people.

Accountabilities

1.Through your team, monitor adherence and deliver the production plan with pre-agreed targets from the Factory Manager:

a.Output levels (efficiency & utilisation)

b.Quality

c.  Health & Safety (including employee welfare)

d.Customer satisfaction

e.Budget Control

f.  OTIF (on time in Full)

2.Report timeously to the Factory Manager any risk of achieving (1) above with suggested solutions to mitigate each risk.

3.Maintain a safety focused culture across your department and ensure that management systems (ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and ISO 18001) are followed and reviewed.

4.Devise induction and Training plan for all new start and ensure appropriate training needs for each team member is identify and training is delivered.

5.Plan and monitor team performance, optimise utilisation of production, machinery and waste management to meet and deliver performance, quality; health & safety; customer requirements satisfaction, financial targets and productivity to agreed target.

6.Through your team Pro-actively look to continually seek new methods and processes to increase factory efficiency and utilisation across all work centres.

7.Ensure employee resource and working patters are matched in terms of skills and numbers to short and long term production plan.

8.Build effective working relationships with relevant departments, within and out with the factory to maximise delivery of (1)

Essential Technical Expertise

1.Demonstrate thorough knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices within a manufacturing environment

2.Demonstrate ability for production & resource planning and productivity within a manufacturing environment

3.Knowledge of Timber Frame manufacture

4.Knowledge of using ERP system (Axapta)

5.Proficient in Microsoft office (particularly spread sheets)

6.Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing

7.Knowledge of Quality Management Systems in manufacturing environment
