The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
The College requires a Faculty Administrator to manage the day to day core activities of a local office including provision of administrative support to Humber & the Ridings/Whiterose Faculty who seek to develop and deliver local initiatives to members and implement / facilitate national activities delivered at local level. This will include travel within the Humber & the Ridings Faculty area to attend Board meetings, educational and social events. The post will also provide administrative support to specific regional activities within the Whiterose Region, and so occasional travel outside the Humber & the Ridings faculty area will be required from time to time.
Educated to ‘A’ level standard (or equivalent), you will have relevant experience in an administrative role and be competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher, email, internet and have knowledge of financial management including budgeting. You will have excellent organisational, time management and communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and make effective use of the College systems provided to support you in your duties. Experience of providing committee administration and minute-taking is essential.
A flexible approach to working hours is necessary as attendance at some evening meetings and overnight stays will be required. Drivers licence and access to a car is a must. Knowledge of the health service would be an advantage.
In this varied and busy post you will provide a high standard of administrative support to the Faculty Board and regional officers, all of whom are volunteers. Duties will include organising and attending meetings, maintaining regular contact with Faculty Officers, working with other Administrators to deliver educational courses and conferences, and being responsible for Faculty finances, communications and website management. You will be required to be a self starter, manage your own time and priorities whilst under the supervision of the Regional Engagement Manager.
